Softball: Palm Beach Gardens opens with rout

Haley Hoffman hit a three-run home run, helping the Palm Beach Gardens softball team to a season-opening 17-0 rout of John I. Leonard in three innings Tuesday night in Palm Beach Gardens.

Brooke Barnard added two hits, two runs and five RBIs and Breanna Robine went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

Santaluces 11, Somerset Canyons 9: Alycia Celia was 3-for-4 with two steals and struck out three in five innings as the Chiefs (1-1) edged the Cougars in Boynton Beach. Aly Cooley added a double, a triple and two RBIs and Mackenzie Strickland had a triple and a double for Santaluces.

Jupiter 23, Suncoast 1 (4): Ashley Goebel doubled and drove in four runs and Kendall McMullen added two doubles as the Warriors (1-0) routed the Chargers (0-1) in Riviera Beach.

Stuart-South Fork 4, Dwyer 2: Nicole Collins was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Daija Torscha added a hit, a run scored and a stolen base, but the Panthers fell to the Bulldogs in Palm Beach Gardens.

Spanish River 12, Royal Palm Beach 3: Kyrie Brooks struck out six in six innings, Mackenzi Penno added a double and Eva Zeidel contributed two singles as the Sharks handled the Wildcats in Boca Raton.

Cardinal Newman 21, Boynton Beach 6: Sarah Polak was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and struck out seven in three innings on the mound as the Crusaders (1-0) cruised past the Tigers in Boynton Beach.

Wellington 8, Boca Raton 0: Dani Farley pitched a complete game with 15 strikeouts, Bailey Cain added three RBIs and Allison Rodriguez was 2-for-2 as the Wolverines shut down the Bobcats in Boca Raton.

King’s Academy 16, Trinity Christian 0: Caili Machuga was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Hannah Federico added a double and three runs scored and winning pitcher Jordan Winters struck out six in three innings and had a double as the Lions rolled over the Warriors in West Palm Beach.

Olympic Heights 12, Atlantic 5: Kaitlyn Cunningham struck out 12 in 52/3 innings and Madison Cote was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Lions (2-0) over the Eagles in Boca Raton.

Oxbridge Academy 22, University School 0: Josie Foreman went 3-for-3 with five RBIs, and Caridad Estes went 2-for-3 with a homer to lead the ThunderWolves past the Sharks. Madalynn Davis added three hits for Oxbridge.
