Boys volleyball: Forest Hill sweeps to victory


Julio Mendez had 19 assists and four kills, leading the Forest Hill boys volleyball team to a 25-19, 25-14, 25-13 sweep of Somerset Canyons on Thursday in Boynton Beach.

Jose Machado added six kills and four blocks for the Falcons (3-1).

Palm Beach Gardens d. Palm Beach Lakes 25-10, 25-8, 25-9: Ian Shmueli had 16 points and seven aces and Peterson Lera added 14 service points with five aces as the Gators (1-2) swept the Rams in West Palm Beach. Devaughn Davis added nine kills for Gardens.

Boca Raton Christian d. Trinity Christian 25-15, 25-9, 25-23: Nick Petrocelli had 13 kills, nine service points and two blocks and Mark delBosque added 19 assists and nine service points as the Blazers (2-0) swept the Warriors in Boca Raton. Josh Schuppener added nine kills and four blocks for Boca Raton Christian.

Dwyer d. Forest Hill 25-17, 21-25, 24-26, 25-21, 15-6: Thomas Curry had 17 kills and four digs and Nica Arnett added 34 assists, as the Panthers (2-2) ralled past the Falcons late Wednesday in West Palm Beach. Vasilios Apostolopoulos had 18 digs and Julian Vega added 21 kills for the Falcons.
