Whether it’s a spring game or a championship game, Boca Raton quarterback Michael Pratt wants his name to be known.
One of Palm Beach County’s rising star quarterbacks, Pratt threw two touchdown passes in a 28-7 rout of the South Broward-Hollywood Bulldogs.
“It says it right here,” Pratt said, pointing to his jersey, “ ‘Together we will.’ We’re a family, so it’s everybody, not just individuals … I thought we played really well and had some young guys step up.”
Boca broke through first when rising senior running back Antonio Gonzalez scored from 2 yards out with a little more than three minutes left in the first quarter. After an impressive defensive stop, Pratt found fellow rising junior Deltavian Jenkins for a touchdown.
Pratt’s second touchdown pass came early in the third quarter and went to rising sophomore Rashawn Faustine, who was wide-open for a 50-yard score.
“I knew it was game over from there,” Pratt said.
Gonzalez added a second rushing touchdown in the third quarter, icing the game for a Bobcats team looking to build off last year’s 5-5 finish.
“Anytime a new staff comes in, your first game is kind of what the benchmark’s gonna be moving forward,” first-year Bobcats coach Brandon Walker said. “One of the things we talked about this spring was finishing, and, obviously, our guys did a good job of that tonight.”
