What Adam Gase said Friday before Titans season opener

Here are some things Dolphins coach Adam Gase said at the final availability before the season opener against Tennessee:

• DeVante Parker is limited and doubtful.

• The defense can’t relax with Marcus Mariota’s ability to run.

• The backup quarterback will be a gut feel.

• Captains have not been chosen yet.

• Laremy Tunsil has really benefited from going against Robert Quinn. His footwork is so good he could play a skill position.

• Jurrell Casey has given us fits the last couple of years. He is really hard to stop one-on-one.

• Gase will tell his players: Don’t think. React to the game. Play fast.

Dolphins plan to bring back S Maurice Smith from practice squad

The Dolphins intend to fill their vacant roster spot by promoting practice squad safety Maurice Smith, a league source confirmed. Smith, who made the team as an undrafted rookie last year, helps Miami’s secondary and special teams. He was on the roster all of the 2017 season and appeared in five games and likely would have played more if not...

Minus Josh Sitton, Dolphins’ offensive line holds up vs. Jets

There couldn’t be anything worse for the Dolphins’ offensive line than to lose bear-sized left guard Josh Sitton, their crucial free agent acquisition, one week into the season. That one hurts. But Adam Gase is making this the year of no complaining. He’s tried to purge what he saw as a defeatist attitude from Miami’s locker...

Amid FSU woes, too early to question if Taggart is right man

Willie Taggart didn’t create this mess. Jimbo Fisher did. The outline for the grotesque big picture for Florida State football that you saw during Saturday’s 30-7 loss to Syracuse was sketched by Fisher over the last two years. Two years of little accountability on or off the field. Two years of allowing academics to become an afterthought...
