Miami Dolphins practice report: WR DeVante Parker progresses

In their final walk-through before Sunday’s game at the Jets, the Dolphins have wide receiver DeVante Parker on the field and they’re going without a key offensive lineman.

While Parker looks increasingly likely to make his 2018 debut after suffering a broken finger a month ago, left guard Josh Sitton is headed to Injured Reserve with a torn rotator cuff.

Here are some notes from today’s practice:

-- Sitton will officially be placed on IR shortly, and the team will not make a corresponding move. Any practice squad player Miami would have added would certainly be inactive anyway, so the Dolphins will go into the New York game with a 52-man roster.

-- Parker looked good catching passes with either hand and appears to be full-go. His hand was more heavily taped than in the previous two practices, which is probably how he’ll have it for the game.

-- Both offensive tackles, Laremy Tunsil on the left and Ja’Wuan James on the right, have been battling hamstring injuries, but both were on the field today and will play Sunday.

-- Defensive end William Hayes has a finger injury on his right hand and did not appear to be practicing today. He had his hand in a cast Thursday and is expected to play.

Dolphins S Maurice Smith back on roster after turbulent 3 weeks

At any point in the last year or so, Dolphins safety Maurice Smith would’ve made the obligatory statements about how the NFL is a business and nothing is guaranteed. Now he knows firsthand how true those things are. Smith clawed his way onto Miami’s roster as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and stayed with the team the entire season, then...
