What Shaka Smart said after Texas’ 73-69 Big 12 Tournament loss to Texas Tech

On Thursday, the Texas Longhorns fell to the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament, 73-69.

Following the loss, here’s what Texas coach Shaka Smart had to say:

Smart’s initial comments following the loss to Texas Tech

“We’re extremely disappointed that we came up short,” Smart said. “Very, very disappointed, but obviously, we have more basketball to play,’ Smart later added.”

Smart on how he feels about the team following the loss

“We just lost a tight game so you never feel great after a loss. I think Texas Tech deserves a lot of credit, but there’s a lot of things we’ll look at when we watch that tape, we would have won.”

Smart on how well Mohamed Bamba played

“I though Mo played well. It was back and forth whether he was going to be able to play and then he went through a workout today and it went pretty well,” Smart said, adding that Bamba was given a minutes restriction.”

Smart on Jacob Young’s career-high performance

“He does that all the time in practice. That was the guy we recruited a couple years ago.”

Smart on how close Texas was based on how slowly it started the game

“The reality for us is when we’ve played well, particularly since we lost Andrew, we’ve gotten contributions from pretty much everyone who goes out onto the floor… We’ve have everyone go in and give us solid time.”

No mud. “Maybe bumped,” Tannehill said Tuesday. “I haven’t been hit, that&rsquo...

The Dolphins don’t know whether they’ll have wide receiver DeVante Parker back from a broken finger by the season opener. They’re hopeful, but it might take longer. Either way, he’s not expected to miss much time once the season starts. In order to continue preparing even though he’s being held out of practices and preseason...

Miami Dolphins’ Xavien Howard: ‘I’m out to show everyone I’m a lockdown corner’

Xavien Howard has received near-universal praise for his performance at the end of last season, this spring and through the summer. But after Howard nabbed yet another interception in Friday’s preseason loss at Carolina, he took to Instagram and commented on a photo taken by the Dolphins. “Make em Believe,” Howard wrote. Asked about...
