Matt Luke was born in Gulfport, Mississippi near the coast. While he and his family have a long history of bleeding red and blue, Luke recently traded it in for purple, green and gold.

Luke was the grand marshal of the Krewe of Neptune parade Saturday in Biloxi, Mississippi.

“It’s good to get back home,” Luke told WLOX. “I’m just excited to be back down here and I am from the coast and I am proud of it.”

This time last year, Ole Miss head football coach wasn’t even a glimmer in Luke’s eye. Now he’s leading a program which is rebuilding after sanctions pushed many players to transfer.

It’s good to see Luke have a chance to unwind after National Signing Day. Soon he’ll be back in Oxford to start spring practices. The Grove Bowl is scheduled for Apr. 7.
