Penn State is a bubble team going into Selection Sunday this year.

There’s no way around it.

At 21-13 overall and 9-9 in Big Ten play during the regular season, the Nittany Lions have a good resume, but it’s not great. Penn State beat three ranked teams over the course of the season in 2017-18 — and they all came against Ohio State.

According to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, Penn State — as of March 8 — is one of the next four teams out.

On Thursday, one of Penn State’s Twitter accounts posted a video of the team’s coach — Pat Chambers — talking about their wins over Ohio State and many other reasons as to why the Nittany Lions should make the NCAA Tournament.

So @Coach_Chambers makes some pretty passionate arguments for @PennStateMBB to make the NCAA Tournament here. What do you think?

After mentioning to Chambers that Ohio State’s Chris Holtmann had coached against many bubble teams during his days at Butler and saying that Chambers’ Penn State team was “unequivocally better than almost every single one of those bubble teams,” Chambers laughed and replied with, “I think Chris is a great guy.”

Then, Chambers went into many reasons of why he is team is deserving to get into the tournament.

“We’ve watched other bubble teams and I’m watching very closely over the last 24 hours and I just think we’re a better team,” he said. “I think we’ll fight, we’ll compete, we’ll scrap and we’ll win a couple at the tournament. That’s why we won a couple at the Big Ten Tournament at the Garden. Because, we’re a good team. When you put us all together and we have all the pieces.

“We did lose the stretch down there without Mike one game, but we had to readjust what we were doing. we were able to do that and still find our way to 21 wins and 9-9 and usually when you’re 9-9 and have two Big Ten wins in the conference tournament, history says, you’re going to be in the [NCAA Tournament].

“We’ve been extremely consistent. We haven’t lost a game all year by more than 12 points. We’re right there with Villanova, Virginia, Purdue, Duke (…) I hope they put more value into the metrics. That puts us right where we need to be to be an NCAA Tournament team.”

Selection Sunday is set for 6 p.m. on March 11 on TBS.
