Miami wide receiver Ahmmon Richards celebrates touchdown by shushing home crowd

It has not been a good start at home for Miami against Virginia. After going down 14-0 to the Cavaliers early, the Hurricanes needed a spark to get back in the game and avoid an upset in front of their own fans.

They might have received it on an Ahmmon Richards touchdown catch late in the first quarter. Richards had an interesting celebration afterwards, though. Take a look:

Perhaps Richards was silencing his haters there? In their defense, Hurricanes fans hadn’t had a great deal to cheer about – especially after Miami barely recovered a gutsy Virginia onside kick call – and they potentially may have began to turn on their own team.

Either way, it was a great catch by the sophomore. Maybe it sparked something in the team as they tied the game with 9:14 left in the second quarter after forcing a Cavaliers fumble. We’ll see if it eventually lifts the Hurricanes to a win in their home finale to keep themselves in the College Football Playoff’s top four rankings.
