LSU nabs commitment from top JUCO offensive tackle

Ed Orgeron has made it clear that he hopes to bolster his team from the trenches this offseason with junior college linemen. He just landed the best at the position.

Badara Traore, the nation’s top-ranked junior college offensive tackle, committed to LSU over Texas on Wednesday. The commitment followed an in-home visit from Orgeron, who spent the day at ASA College in New York before Traore went public with his decision a few hours later.

The addition of Traore, a 4-star prospect, bolsters the Tigers’ 2018 recruiting class which ranked No. 14 in the nation entering the day. He is the fourth offensive linemen, joining fellow junior college prospect Damien Lewis, along with top Louisiana tackle Cameron Wire and 3-star Mississippi center Cole Smith.

The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Traore will compete for the starting left tackle job after K.J. Malone graduates in a few weeks. He is the 19th member of LSU’s 2018 class.

Traore will sign his letter of intent on Dec. 20 and enroll at LSU in January. He’ll be on campus for spring practice.
