LOOK: Crowd at LSU-Mississippi State game in SEC Tournament appears super small

Plenty of seats appear available for the SEC Tournament game between LSU and Mississippi State.

On Thursday night, the Tigers and Bulldogs faced off in a second round game at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. It followed two dramatic games earlier in the day, with Alabama beating Texas A&M on a last-second shot by Collin Sexton and Georgia edging out Missouri during Michael Porter Jr.’s return.

Not each SEC Tournament game will be a high-demand event, but the crowd shown in the photo below shortly before the LSU-Mississippi State game isn’t pretty.

The development was notable to some on Twitter:

Looks like about 600 folks are packing out the @ScottradeCenter for the #SECTourney tonight. Unreal

It'll fill in as the Kentucky fans finish dinner. https://t.co/G0cJve0Nmh

You can understand this scene. Neither LSU or Mississippi State are particularly close to St. Louis, and those respective school’s basketball fan bases aren’t known as huge traveling groups.

Expect the crowd in St. Louis to look better when Kentucky starts SEC Tournament play Friday against Georgia. Still, if you’re in the St. Louis area and looking for something to do Thursday night, it looks like you can find a spot at Scottrade Center without much trouble.

Bryce Petty making most of Miami Dolphins opportunities

Bryce Petty is the only Miami Dolphins quarterback to pass for a touchdown this preseason and the only one to rush for one, too. It’s long been assumed that David Fales or Brock Osweiler will be Ryan Tannehill’s backup this season, but at times, Petty has outperformed them. “I’m getting better every week,” Petty said Tuesday...

Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill’s uniform has not required laundering

White jersey with aqua numbers or aqua jersey with white numbers, it hasn’t mattered for Ryan Tannehill. At the end of the night, after both Miami Dolphins preseason games this year, his jersey has hardly needed laundering. No dirt. No grass. No mud. “Maybe bumped,” Tannehill said Tuesday. “I haven’t been hit, that&rsquo...

When you look at Harlon Barnett’s bio, it seems to come out of nowhere. He grew up in Ohio. Played high school football in Ohio. Starred at Michigan State as a hard-hitting defensive back. He then played seven seasons in the NFL, including the first three with the Cleveland Browns. After his career was over and he decided he wanted to get into...

Dolphins WR DeVante Parker working behind scenes to stay on track

The Dolphins don’t know whether they’ll have wide receiver DeVante Parker back from a broken finger by the season opener. They’re hopeful, but it might take longer. Either way, he’s not expected to miss much time once the season starts. In order to continue preparing even though he’s being held out of practices and preseason...

Long road to first game for fledgling Keiser football team

The new football complex, which will house weight rooms, training rooms, coaches’ offices and locker rooms, has yet to open. The practice field has yet to be converted into a stadium. Across the Keiser University campus off Military Trail, there are few signs that the Seahawks are about to make history. “This week is actually game week...
