Trump in Palm Beach: President leaves after a little golf, a lot of tweets and visit with shooting victims 

UPDATE 6:55 p.m.: Air Force One landed at Joint Base Andrews at 6:14 p.m., according to White House pool reporters. The president, first lady and Barron Trump left the plane 9 minutes later. Trump didn’t answer a shouted question about gun control. The family then left  in the presidential motorcade. The motorcade arrived at the White House around 6:50 p.m.

UPDATE 4:27 p.m.: Air Force One has departed from Palm Beach International Airport. It is not known when the president will next visit Palm Beach.

UPDATE 4:12 p.m.: The president’s motorcade is en  route to Palm Beach International Airport.

UPDATE 3:24 p.m.: There are no Trump protesters or gun control marchers - only Trump supporters - along the motorcade route, according to four Palm Beach Post reporters along the stretch of Southern Boulevard. 

UPDATE 3:07 p.m.: Trump supporters have gathered at the foot of the Southern Boulevard bridge along the motorcade route to say goodbye to the president and first lady.

UPDATE 3:04 p.m.: Eric Trump surprised his father’s supporters this morning.

UPDATE 1:46 p.m.: The president has left his golf course in suburban West Palm Beach and is headed back to Mar-a-Lago. He is expected to return to Washington later this afternoon.

UPDATE: 12:52 p.m.: The Secret Service has released a statement about the firearm discovered in the bag of press-pool van driver this morning.

“The individual was found to be in lawful possession of a prohibited item (firearm) outside the secure area at a Secret Service security screening checkpoint.”

UPDATE 11:50 a.m. The three drivers of the press vans scheduled to join President Donald Trump’s motorcade were abruptly replaced this morning after one of the drivers apparently brought a firearm in his bag. 

The incident occurred in a parking lot across the street from Mar-a-Lago about an hour before Trump’s motorcade left Mar-a-Lago for Trump International Golf Club. 

During a routine Secret Service sweep of members of the press pool and their bags in the parking lot, an agent asked the driver about his bag. 

The driver was later heard saying he had forgotten to leave his “personal firearm” in his car before getting behind the wheel of the press van.

BREAKING 9:18 a.m.: Three drivers of press vans in the president’s motorcade were abruptly replaced this morning. More details to follow.

Update 9:10 a.m.: The president is back in the swing of things having just arrived at Trump International Golf Course. Our Post reporter George Bennett is reporting that three drivers in the motorcade were abruptly replaced.  

UPDATE 8:47 a.m.: Still no word on how Trump will be spending the holiday, but he did take to Twitter this morning to say, “Have a great, but very reflective, President’s Day!”

Original Story: President Donald Trump will spend part of Presidents Day in Palm Beach County before flying back to the White House this evening.

He has no official events today. However, he has not played golf since his arrival on Friday evening and with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-70s, he may visit his golf course in West Palm Beach today.

With the exception of a trip to Broward County to meet with hospitalized victims and law enforcement who responded to the school shooting in Parkland, the president has not ventured outside Mar-a-Lago.

The investigation Russian meddling in the 2016 election continued to occupy the President, with 11 of the 20 tweets he has posted so far this weekend about topic. 

In other tweets he took swipes at the FBI for failing to follow up on tips about the Parkland gunman and Democrats for failing to pass gun control during the Obama administration.

He ended Sunday with a tweet accusing a “very insecure” Oprah Winfrey with asking “biased and slanted” questions during her 60 Minutes segment with 14 Republican, Democrat a” and Independent voters from Grand Rapids, Michigan Trump’s first year in office.

This week the president is planning to meet with students and teachers on . Wednesday and state and local officials on Thursday following the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Broward County, according to the Associated Press

It’s unclear where these meetings will take place and which students will attend.

Also on Sunday, the president met with House Speaker Paul Ryan and later to Trump International Golf Club for dinner. 

The White House released this statement about their meeting: 

“President Donald J. Trump and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had a productive meeting today. The two leaders discussed a wide variety of topics, including securing our Nation’s borders through immigration reform, the continued benefits the American people are experiencing as a result of tax reform, the overwhelming need to improve our Nation’s infrastructure, and the recent tragedy in Parkland, Florida. The President looks forward to continuing his close collaboration with Speaker Ryan as they work to accomplish their shared legislative priorities this year.”

His last tweet of the night was about Oprah Winfrey.
