A Port St. Lucie woman was arrested after police said she left her daughter alone outside of a bar while she was drinking and then later got into a car crash.

A bartender from Mumbles Pub called Port St. Lucie police shortly after midnight Wednesday to tell them that they noticed Amber Ellen Burford’s 6-year-old daughter alone in the car, according to a police report obtained by TCPalm.com

The bartender took away her drink, TCPalm stated, and then Burford left.

About half an hour later, police found Burford and her daughter at the site of a car crash.

Their car had crashed into a parked boat in someone’s front yard. Officers said that Burford, 28, smelled of alcohol, and inside the car they found an open bottle of wine, according to TCPalm.

The mother and daughter were taken to a hospital before Burford was booked into the St. Lucie County jail on charges of child neglect and DUI.
