New womens clothing store coming to downtown Lake Worth

Magnolia Boutique, a new womens clothing store, is moving into 11 S. J Street next month.

“We’re going to have designer clothes, mostly resort wear and also evening wear for special occasions,” said Phyllis Plaskett-Brooks, store owner. “All of our prices are curated by us, which means we go out and meet with designers globally and work with them to bring their collections to our store.”

Some of the designers Plaskett-Brooks work with include LoNa Designs in Bali; Spirited Clothing in Australia and Love Alana in California. Prices will range from $20 to $150.

Plaskett-Brooks, 42, said the store plans to host a cocktail reception March 23 at the 625-square-foot space and have the grand opening the next day.

“We’ve always wanted something that was under 1,000-square-feet or less so our customers can get personal service,” she said.

Plaskett-Brooks orignially planned to open the store in Delray Beach, but the sites were too pricey. She started looking at Lake Worth when fellow business owners did events downtown.

“Even though we live in Lake Worth, we weren’t spending that much time on the Avenues, but with them doing these events, we saw them grow,” she said. “Lake Worth is going in the right direction and will be ideal for us.”
