NEW: Police looking for Martin County bank robber

Investigators in Martin County are on the hunt for a man who walked into a Chase Bank on Saturday afternoon and robbed it.

Just before 2 p.m., the robber entered the Port Salerno bank, at Southeast Cove Road and U.S. 1, and passed the teller a note demanding money.

He implied that he had a gun, though no weapon was seen, according to a sheriff’s office report.

He took off toward a nearby Bealls department store and has not been seen since.

Martin County Sheriff’s Office investigators say he has a beard, was wearing glasses, a plaid shirt, jeans and a ball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 772-220-7170 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 800-273-8477.
