NEW: Florida woman injured after life raft crashes through roof 


A life raft broke through the ceiling and fell onto a woman who was sleeping in her Miami home on Wednesday afternoon. 

“ I was, like, shocked ... it was like boom,” the woman said to NBC6.

At first, the woman thought it was a fan falling, but discovered it was a life raft that belonged to a Royal Canadian Air Force rescue helicopter. The chopper was on its way back to the Opa-locka Airport when the incident occurred, according to NBC6. 

“Fortunately the occupant narrowly escaped disaster and sustained only minor injuries,” Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Capt. William McAllister told NBC6.

The Royal Canadian Air force told NBC6 that they plan to support the woman with “immediate accommodations.”
