A 4-year-old boy in Tampa was airlifted to a local hospital on Friday after he was mauled by a pit bull in the parking lot of a Winn-Dixie.
Surveillance video of the attack shows the boy and his parents walking out of the store when all of a sudden a dog is seen running in-between cars— toppling the boy over, WFTS reports.
The dog’s owner tried to pull the dog away, but the canine attacked him a second time and bit off a piece of his cheek, witnesses said to WFTS.
The boy’s father told investigators that his son was also bitten on the shoulder and he plans to press charges against the owner, who was later identified as Stephanie Taylor.
The 4-year-old pit bull, named Sage, has been quarantined at the county’s animal services and will stay there until May 21, WFTS reports.
Taylor told WFTS that she plans to get Sage back and “wishes the child well.”
The boy’s family said he is expected to recover quickly.
