NEW: Manafort could forfeit Gardens home under new bail bond

Attorneys for Palm Beach Gardens resident and former Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort say they have reached an agreement with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office that will allow Manafort to travel to Florida and New York while he awaits trial.

Manafort’s legal residence is a home in BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, though he has been under house arrest at another one of his residences in Alexandria, Va.

As outlined in a court document submitted by Manafort’s attorneys and released this afternoon, Manafort agrees to forfeit the Palm Beach Gardens home, valued at $1.25 million, and three other properties valued at $10.4 million if he does not appear for trial on charges of money laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent.

The court filing says Manafort’s attorneys and Mueller’s office have agreed that Manafort will be allowed to travel to Florida and New York in addition to Virginia. Other travel within the U.S. “would be permissible only upon application to and approval by the Court,” the filing says. Manafort would not be allowed to travel outside the U.S.

Mueller’s office is “declining to comment beyond the court document,” a spokesman said.

The bail package is subject to the approval of the federal judge presiding over Manafort’s case.

Mueller’s indictment of Manafort and business associate Rick Gates covers activities before Manafort’s 2016 involvement in the Trump campaign and does not mention Trump or the issue that led to Mueller’s appointment, Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The indictment says Manafort used seven Florida businesses as part of a scheme to hide payments from Ukraine between 2006 and 2016.

Manafort and his wife paid $1.5 million for a 5,231-square-foot home in BallenIsles in 2007. Manafort got a homestead exemption on the property in 2011 and registered to vote in Palm Beach County that year. He voted in Florida’s March 2016 presidential primary at BallenIsles and cast his general election ballot at one of Palm Beach County’s early voting sites, according to elections records.
