A former NASCAR driver was arrested after federal agents said he tried to pay to have sex with a 12-year-old girl.

Richard Crawford, 59, was arrested Thursday in Central Florida on a felony charge of attempted enticement of a minor.

According to a records obtained by WKMG, the investigation into Crawford began Feb. 10 when he responded to an online advertisement about people interested in “dark taboo” experiences.

The federal agent who posted the advertisement eventually set up a time and place where Crawford would meet with whom he thought would be a 12-year-old girl, WKMG stated.

They also agreed on a price — $50 to $75 — to have sex with the girl, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The agent, posing as the girl’s father, told Crawford that the girl would be in the back of a van in a Wendy’s parking lot in Lake Mary.

During the exchange in the parking lot, Crawford eventually was arrested when he got out of his truck to head toward the van.
