Art and golf make an unlikely pairing, but a gallery on PGA Boulevard is channeling The Honda Classic theme.
Studio E Gallery commissioned pieces specifically for the tournament at PGA National Resort & Spa next week. The exhibit includes golf-themed paintings, sculptures and mixed media works.
“This exhibit bridges the gap between our clients’ interests and the world of contemporary art. Having something like The Honda Classic in our backyard is a great way for us to help our clients find just the right thing to inspire their next hole-in-one,” Studio E Gallery director Dan Cella said in a news release.
Trip Park painted a series for the studio’s Honda Classic exhibit. His depiction of golf clubs in well-worn bags is meant to evoke a longing for camaraderie found on the course. Another piece, “Oh, Billy, Billy,” is a throwback to the golf comedy “Caddyshack.”
Dan Meyer, the artist who designed the 12-foot sculpture of golf tees along PGA Boulevard, has created “fresh, provocative and slightly quirky works of art,” according to the news release.
