What’s new for this vacant day care spot on Alt. A1A in Jupiter?

An Enterprise Rent-A-Car Car store at the southeast corner of North Alternate A1A and Old Jupiter Beach Road unanimously was recommended for approval by the town’s planning and zoning commission.

The plan is scheduled for a town council vote Feb. 20. The town council is not bound by the commission’s approval.

No structural changes are planned to the existing yellow, 2,500-square-foot building that formerly was Hi-Tech Academy Day Care. The owner on the one-acre parcel is RIS Properties Inc.

Planned renovations include removing the east wall of the building for access to the proposed garage/hand car-wash area. A sidewalk will be added on Old Jupiter Beach Road. The new building plans call for a customer lobby/waiting area, private office, restrooms, employee break room and a garage area for hand-wash and vacuuming.

Operating hours will be Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. Enterprise will have a total staff of 10 persons. Vehicles needing repairs will be taken to another location.

The property is bordered by Bell’s Mobile Home Park on the north and Grand Slam Tackle and Marine Center on the south.

The two-acre Bell’s mobile home park, with prime waterway access to the Jupiter Inlet, has been purchased for about $1.8 million by Bjarne Borg, co-founder of the Stockholm-based Index International AB, an international entrepreneurial company which has an office in Jupiter. The native of Sweden also owns two adjacent acres to Bell’s.

Borg plans a low-scale development on the Bell’s property. No plans have been submitted to Jupiter.
