“Special Men’s Shirts $1.89.”
That’s what it says on a large white truck outside Cocoanut Palm Cleaners at 1714 N. Dixie Highway.
No, the cleaners aren’t selling shirts for $1.89. That would be great, wouldn’t it?
Actually, that’s how much the company charges to clean and press them.
“A lot of people come in for that,” said Lionel Delasanchez, a company worker. “In November, we get a lot of people for that.”
Delasanchez said he started working at the cleaners about a year ago.
“But that truck has been here forever,” he said.
Delasanchez said the free ad brings business. “We get good feedback from it,” he said. “A lot of people like how quick we are with the shirts and the way we clean them.”
Some shirts take longer than others, but Delasanchez said he doesn’t get many complaints.
“Right now, it’s kind of slow, but it’ll pick up soon,” he said.
