Touching photos: Astros mascot visits sick kids at Palms West

Children and staff at Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee received a special guest Wednesday morning.

Houston Astros mascot Orbit stopped by to spend time with the young patients at the Children’s Hospital at Palms West. The children were “thrilled” to meet Orbit, who signed an autograph for each of them, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Some of the children were in the hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Others were in the emergency room.

Orbit and the 2017 World Series-winning Astros are in town for spring training at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach. The team, which shares the stadium with the Washington Nationals, had its first full-squad workout on Monday. 

Spring training games at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches begin Friday as the Astros and Nationals face off.
