1. Fire Rescue Open House. Children can meet Smokey the Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog at a free Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue open house that’s 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Fire Station 1, 4425 Burns Road. There will be interactive games for children, a coloring contest and fire rescue and police SWAT team demonstrations with an emergency vehicle and a robot. Food from Chick-fil-A, Chicago Hot Dogs, Tropical Sno and Bolay will be for sale.

2. Brewhouse Gallery. Check out “eccentric” hand-built bicycles on display 8-11 p.m. Saturday in the back alley at The Brewhouse Gallery, 720 Park Ave. in Lake Park, for the Sprockets & Spokes Custom Bicycle Show. Martin Mercado of Mercado Custom Cruisers in Jupiter makes the functional bikes, which double as works of art. As usual, there will be live music. Can’t make it this week? The show is every third Saturday.

3. Mardi Gras Carnival. Get an early start to Mardi Gras with St. Clare Catholic School’s annual carnival now through Sunday. The field next to the school, 821 Prosperity Farms Road, is transformed with carnival rides, midway games and food vendors. A new amusement and ride company is in charge this year.

Local bands will play each night. The putting competition will be back, and the Knights of Columbus world-famous cannoli will be available.

There are no admission fees. Guests can buy food, game and ride tickets at the event. All of the money raised benefits the children of St. Clare School.

Hours are noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
