Sneak peak into new Wellington Community Center opening Saturday

Wellington workers are putting the finished touches on the long-awaited Community Center, which will be open to the public Saturday.

The grand opening event will include a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. followed by tours of the new facility and light refreshments.

The about $8 million project is being called the last major piece of the municipal complex, which largely anchors Forest Hill Boulevard.

The two-story building butting up against the lake will have the capability for weddings, conferences and classes, among other things. The village is actually already taking sign-ups for classes that will be offered in the new building.

Instructors will also be on hand at the grand opening to talk about some of the new classes and programs. A full list is available on the village’s website.

Officials are also talking about using the lawn of the Community Center to host the Green Market this winter. The building will give Wellington more options in the future.
