PHOTOS: Here’s when Cleveland Clinic’s new Wellington office will open

Cleveland Clinic Florida’s newest location is set to open Monday in Wellington, the latest move in a long line of expansion efforts for the company — and the latest addition to the village’s burgeoning medical corridor.

The 7,500-square-foot, $1.4 million facility in the Village Green Center at the corner of Stribling Way and State Road 7 is the fourth for Cleveland Clinic in Palm Beach County. Its West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens locations offer a number of specialties, from endocrinology and diabetes education to internal medicine and neurology.

The Wellington location will offer cardiology and primary care services at launch, a spokeswoman said. When the chain’s next new location opens in Coral Springs in July, it and the Wellington office will share a rotation of gastroenterology specialists from Weston.

The company is the latest to expand into Wellington, with a Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital facility rising from the ground just south along State Road 7. Wellington Regional Medical Center continues to expand its offerings, with the grand opening of its Weight Management Center in February.

Cleveland Clinic’s sleek new Wellington space includes touches of technology to make the process smoother for patients. In the lobby, self check-in kiosks allow patients to scan a barcode emailed to them before their appointment, then make payments, update health information and more.

Dr. Jessica Garcia is one of the primary care physicians who will see some of the nearly two dozen patients already booked for appointments Monday. The 35-year-old Wellington resident joined Cleveland Clinic Florida about a month ago from an urgent care practice in Palm Beach County. She said she jumped at the opportunity to work for Cleveland Clinic.

“Cleveland Clinic is very reputable,” she said. “I’m very proud to be serving western Palm Beach County and be part of Cleveland Clinic.”

A fresh paint smell lingers in the office’s 22 exam rooms. Each hallway and room features a clean appearance with white walls and modern artwork.

Cleveland Clinic Florida continues to expand its footprint on the state’s east coast. Earlier this year the company acquired Indian River Medical Center in Indian River County. It also announced a partnership with Martin Health System’s cardiology program in Martin County.

Lennon, McCartney back together? Well sort of

Lennon and McCartney have teamed up again. But it wasn’t some long-lost recording of John Lennon fronted by Paul McCartney years later.  It was actually the sons of the two music legends. Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney recently spent time together and took a selfie that could, at a quick glance, be taken for an image of their two fathers...
