It’s a hallmark of the holiday season: the annual lighting of a community Christmas tree.

ROYAL PALM BEACH
Where: Commons Park, 11600 Poinciana Blvd., Royal Palm Beach
Event: The Christmas tree lighting in Royal Palm Beach is part of the village’s Winter Fest, which runs from 1 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2 and features rides, games, performances by local entertainers, horse-and-carriage rides, food trucks, an ice skating rink and more.
Parking: Available on-site or at Village Hall
Cost: Free, with a $10-per-child fee for the Kids’ Fun Zone, which includes bounce houses, rides and games
Tips: Bring your own seating, and bring cash.

When: 6 p.m. Dec. 8
Where: Wellington Amphitheater, 12100 Forest Hill Blvd., Wellington
Event: Wellington’s Christmas tree lighting kicks off the village’s Winterfest, a massive holiday celebration that ends at 10 p.m. and is done in partnership with the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Vanilla Ice is the headline performer, joined by local acts. The KVJ Show’s Vanilla Ice Block Party joins with Winterfest this year, with organizers expecting an estimated 8,000 attendees. There will be ice skating, ziplining, a snow pile, food and craft vendors, and more.
Parking: Off-site with a free shuttle from these locations:
- Mall at Wellington Green in parking areas W 35 and 36, 10300 Forest Hill Blvd.
- Original Wellington Mall in front by the main entrance, 12794 Forest Hill Blvd.
- First Baptist Church of Wellington, 12700 Forest Hill Blvd.

Or park and walk from St. Peter’s Methodist Church, 12200 Forest Hill Blvd.
Cost: Free with a suggested donation of a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Little Smiles, and a small fee to enter the Blizzard Beach activity area
