It was a busy meeting for Wellington’s village council Tuesday night.

From new commercial development to a temporary easement for state road work, here is a look at three of the items tackled by the council:

New Starbucks and medical offices: The council voted unanimously to approve a comprehensive plan amendment and a development order amendment that pave the way for a new Starbucks and a medical office building in the Village Green Center, on the northwest corner of Stribling Way and State Road 7.

Temporary easement for intersection work: The vote also was unanimously in favor of a temporary easement on the southwest corner of Forest Hill and Southern boulevards for the Florida Department of Transportation to perform work at the intersection. Work on the project is slated to start next year and includes adding a continuous right-turn lane from northbound Forest Hill onto eastbound Southern and a third westbound left-turn lane from Southern onto Forest Hill.

Honoring a volunteer: The village council honored Wellington resident Terri Priore, whose work as a volunteer in local schools earned her the honor of Adult Volunteer of the Year from the Palm Beach County School District. “I’ve been a part of this community since the 1990s and I’ve enjoyed volunteering my time for the community and for the schools,” Priore said.
