One of Wellington’s most popular playgrounds is slated for two changes that could make a big difference for parents.
A new light and an additional shade structure are coming to Scott’s Place, the playground next to the Wellington Amphitheater, 12190 Forest Hill Blvd.
The shade structure will be placed over the monkey bars-style piece of playground equipment next to the restrooms, and the light will be installed in the northeast corner of the playground, near Forest Hill Boulevard, said Village Engineer Tom Lundeen.
The work will begin after the holidays, he said, noting crews will wait until after the village’s holiday parade and Winterfest, two large events that bring big crowds to the amphitheater and surrounding area.
The work is part of the village’s effort to continue to improve Scott’s Place, Lundeen said, adding that the park is “so well-used.”
The cost to install the new shade structure is $24,610, and the new lighting and electrical work will be $21,775, Lundeen said.
Scott’s Place is a barrier-free playground with wheelchair-accessible activities.
