NEW: Country star Alan Jackson’s son-in-law dies after fall in Jupiter

The son-in-law of country music star Alan Jackson died Wednesday in West Palm Beach after a fall, according to a news release on Jackson’s website.

The release indicates Ben Selecman, 28, suffered “severe traumatic head injuries.” The Associated Press reports he slipped on a boat dock in Jupiter.

It was not immediately clear where in Jupiter the Nashville-area prosecutor fell or where in West Palm he died.

Selecman married Jackson’s oldest daughter, Mattie, in October.

He had been working as an assistant prosecutor with the Nashville-Davidson County District since early 2017, said District Attorney General Glenn Funk.

Funk told The Post that Selecman had “a ton of skill” and even more compassion. Selecman knew the names of everyone in the courthouse, Funk said, “whether they were a judge or someone who worked security at the metal detectors.”

Selecman primarily handled misdemeanor cases for the state, Funk said, and was about a month away from his first jury trial.

Jackson’s family sold their Jupiter Island home in 2012 after Jackson’s wife, Denise, was diagnosed with cancer. He told The Post at the time that the family wasn’t using the home often.
