The side of a building on East Ocean Avenue is now a little brighter and even inspirational thanks to Northwood Village artist Craig McInnis .
McInnis, a freelance artist, spent a couple of weeks creating the “Set Free” mural, which he completed Feb. 13. It’s on the building at 636 E. Ocean Ave., where Leeward Luxury is.
The mural is a spiritual nod, McInnis said.
“The flowers represent beauty…and the hands releasing the bird is really where the title comes from,” he said. “For one to be in touch with their spiritual nature setting free of things you don’t need, negative emotions, etc.”
The owner of Leeward Luxury, JJ McDonough, invited McInnis to create the mural. McInnis has done paintings for McDonough’s office and the mural came out of a brainstorming session of what else could be done.
“We started talking about the outside wall because it’s so big,” McInnis said.
McInnis — and his artwork — isn’t new to the Boynton Beach area. He created a mural for the theater building near the city’s Civic Center and for the Boynton Beach Art District on Industrial Avenue.
