Construction is planned to start this week on Center Street between Thelma Street and Loxahatchee River Road.
The work, to be done by Palm Beach County, to modify the roadway is expected to be finished in about nine months.
Plans call for closing the east bound lane of Center Street.
Lanes will be shifted and narrowed to remain open to two-way traffic.
Sidewalks will be closed occasionally during the project.
When the $1.6 million project is complete, there will be two vehicle lanes on Center Street going from Loxahatchee River Road to Indiantown Road.
There will be one vehicle lane from Indiantown Road to Loxahatchee River Road.
There will be sidewalks on both sides, according to county records.
