The historic Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge, built in 1915 by prolific Stuart builder Sam Matthews, is expected to be placed on a barge Thursday and floated on the St. Lucie River to a new home.
The 2,500-square-foot lodge at 41 S.E. Seminole St. is being relocated roughly 1,500 feet away.
The home will be wheeled to the barge around 4 p.m. and moved along the water around 11 a.m. Friday.
The relocation is part of an effort to preserve the past while making way for the construction of the riverfront Seminole Bluff, offering 20 luxury homesites, according to local officials.
