Demolition starts on Boynton Sports Authority — what’s replacing it?

Marshalls and Ulta Beauty will open up where Sports Authority for years once sat, according to the city.

Crews are demolishing the Sports Authority building at the northwest corner of the Congress Avenue and Boynton Beach Boulevard intersection.

The company closed its doors in 2016 after filing for bankruptcy.

Sports Authority also had locations in West Boca Raton, Palm Beach Outlets, Delray Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington and Jupiter.

Marshalls already has a store in Boynton about a mile north at the Catalina Shopping Centre, 1729 N. Congress Ave. It also has locations in Delray Beach, Lake Worth and West Palm Beach, among others.

This would be Ulta’s first Boynton location. The company has stores nearby in Delray, West Palm Beach, Wellington and Palm Beach Gardens.
