BREAKING: One dead after car goes into canal in South Bay


A man died Tuesday when a vehicle went into a canal near the Okeelantana Sugar Mill, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue reports.

The incident happened shortly after noon near the 21000 block of South U.S. Highway 27.

The first arriving firefighters reported a vehicle had gone into a canal and that one person was on the ground outside the vehicle, said Capt. Albert Borroto, spokesman for Fire Rescue.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The scene was turned over to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. 

No other details were disclosed Tuesday afternoon.
