Mothers, daughters paint together at Equestrian Trails Elementary

Equestrian Trails Elementary School in Wellington recently had its first Mother and Daughter Paint Night, hosted by business partner Splash Art Class. The sold-out event was so successful, another fun night has been added to the October calendar.


The Theatre Department will present Cole Porter’s Tony Award-winning musical “Kiss Me Kate” at the school’s Meyer Hall, 550 Tamarind Ave., West Palm Beach. An admissions representative from Florida Atlantic University will speak to juniors, seniors and their parents at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the auditorium. To attend, sign up in the school counseling office by Tuesday.

The Army JROTC color guard will present and post the nation’s colors Oct. 20 at Western Pines Middle School to introduce a presentation from a local World War II veteran.

The Hawk Battalion will host a car wash at the Acreage Burger King beginning at 7 a.m. Oct. 21.


The Palm Beach Poetry Festival has launched its annual high school poetry contest. Students can submit one original poem, 30 lines maximum, for consideration by Dec. 1. The winning poet will receive $200. Four runners-up will each receive $100. For details, visit
