The school and the Kiwanis of North Palm Beach are co-sponsoring the third annual Strive Five for the Hive 5K Run, 3K Walk at 8 a.m. Sunday at The Gardens Mall. There will be trophies and medals, and breakfast will be provided at Brio Tuscan Grille for all registered participants.
The law firm of Rosenthal, Levy, Simon and Ryles will host an inaugural Midterm Madness event to show appreciation for educators in Palm Beach County. The free event takes place 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport and will feature facials, mini-manicures, massages, makeovers, adult beverage sampling, vendors, raffle prizes, and an ice cream sundae bar. Legends of Xscape will provide an Xscape Room. Local organizations that support teachers will share free supplies and resources. Registrations will be accepted at the door. A school ID is required. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is offering local middle and high school students the chance to produce “To Kill a Mockingbird,” adapted by Christopher Sergel from the novel by Harper Lee. The deadline to apply for the project is Monday, and interviews will take place through March 17. Submission packets are available by visiting jupitertheatre.org/youth-artists-chair-program. Students chosen will take on specific roles throughout the summer months that include producer, director, set designer, costume designer, lighting designer, sound designer, properties designer, stage manager, assistant stage manager, marketing, press relations, development, carpentry/electrics, run crew and wardrobe.
Auditions and callbacks for students in grades six to 12 will be held noon to 4 p.m. April 29. Students should come prepared with a one-minute monologue in the style of the show. The Palm Beach County Youth Services Department is accepting applications through April 13 for summer camp scholarships. The scholarship program offers eligible children ages 5-14, and a special population up to age 17, a full scholarship to day camp for the entire summer. The scholarship covers all tuition and fees for children residing in families with income at or below 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines. The 28th annual Golf Tournament takes place April 28 at Gator Trace Country Club. Kindergarten registration for the 2018-19 school year begins March 19. Parents and guardians should contact the individual schools directly for details on registration times. Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 to attend. Parents will need to bring the child’s original birth certificate or other proof of date of birth; two proofs of residency; a current physical examination on Form 3040; and a Florida Certificate of Immunization, Form 680.
