The Palm Beach County Youth Services Department is accepting applications through April 13 for summer camp scholarships. The scholarship program offers eligible children ages 5-14, and a special population up to age 17, a full scholarship to day camp for the entire summer. The scholarship covers all tuition and fees for children residing in families with income at or below 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines. The Palm Beach County Council of PTA/PTSA will host a presentation on Human Trafficking, Dangers of Technology and Keeping Children Safe at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Christa McAuliffe Middle School, 6500 Le Chalet Blvd., Boynton Beach.
An exhibition of artwork in the 2018 Regional Scholastic Arts Awards is set for Saturday at the Armory Art Center, 811 Park Place, West Palm Beach. An award ceremony honoring all winners begins at 1 p.m., followed by the exhibition from 2 to 4 p.m. Gold and Silver Key work — about 438 pieces — will be on display. Students who receive a Gold Key will proceed to national competition for additional awards and opportunities.
The entry deadline for the Essay & Creative Arts Competition sponsored by the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians & Jews has been extended to March 12. The contest is open to all middle and high school students in public, private, parochial and charter schools in the county. Categories include essay writing, music, video and visual arts, with middle and high school divisions. The topic, “The Road Not Taken,” is inspired by the Robert Frost poem. Students can win cash prizes and other gifts. Supervising teachers are eligible to win gift cards for school supplies.
