How is business so far for Lake Worth’s Snoballs shop?

SoFlo Snoballs, a unique ice cream shop, opened in late November on Lake Avenue where Hoffman’s Chocolates once stood.

But the site is still deciding if they’re going to have a big grand opening party.

“We’re not sure if we’re gong to do that just yet,” said Taylor Castillo, the store manager. “We still want to get a couple more things in here before we do a big, official party”

The store has added chalkboards for the wall, a mounted TV as well as a doughnut machine. So far, business has been pretty good.

“Weather has been cold, so it was a little slow the past few weeks,” she said. “But it’s starting to pick up with a lot more people interested.”

Castillo, a 24-year-old former biology major at Indian River State College, said kids love the cotton candy snoball while the adults are digging the dreamsicle with American iced cream.

The space has had more than $200,000 in upgrades, including new floors, windows, doors, plumbing and air conditioning.

The business is owned by her father, Alvaro Castillo and Bill Thomas.
