A Pompano Beach teen was arrested Monday after officials said he threatened to kill students with a pipe bomb.
The 16-year-old was playing an online video game when he made the statement, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Someone alerted the Boca Raton police, who then called the sheriff’s office.
When deputies arrived at the boy’s Pompano Beach home, they found a homemade pipe bomb and other weapons.
This sparked a response from the bomb squad, the violent crimes unit, Homeland Security and the FBI.
The teen, whose name was not released, is facing a felony charge of possessing explosives.
The sheriff’s office did not say which school the teen was possibly targeting.
The Broward sheriff’s office is urging anyone who comes across what they deem to be a suspicious threat, to call 954-764-4357 or 954-493-8477.
