A 36-year-old Florida man will serve two months in prison for intimidating and threatening flight attendants on Spirit Airlines.

Michael A. Minko, of White Springs, was arrested after he boarded a Spirit Airlines flight on July 18 from Newark, N.J., to Fort Lauderdale and proceeded to get inebriated, according to a release from the state attorney’s office of the Southern District of Florida.

After the flight departed, Minko drank an excessive amount of whiskey and then consumed an unknown amount of alprazolam, which is used to treat anxiety. Later, he cussed at the attendants and threatened them.

A flight attendant and three passengers had to restrain him by using plastic flex cuffs to bind his hands behind his back. He pleaded guilty to the charges.

Minko will be allowed to continue drug and alcohol treatment before he is scheduled to serve his prison term on Feb. 23.
