ORIGINAL POST: The Port St. Lucie Police SWAT team is in a neighborhood after officers attempted to speak with a man who allegedly fired a shotgun during a fight in a residence.
Police Spokesman Sgt. Frank Sabol said at 5:30 p.m. officers were called to the 1000 block of Southwest Calmar Avenue, just north of Becker Road and east of Interstate-95. Investigators learned a woman who lives at the home got into a fight with her ex-boyfriend. At some point during the fight he grabbed a shotgun and fired off a round in the home. The woman was able to escape and make it to a neighbor’s home until police made their way to the scene.
The woman was uninjured.
Police made several attempts to communicate with the man, who they believe is still armed in the home, to no avail. After several hours of trying, the SWAT team was called in. Residents are asked to stay in their homes as the investigation continues.
The man’s name has not been released at this time.
