South blotter: Scuffle begins over splashing, ends with pocketknife injuries


BOYNTON BEACH POLICE

AGGRAVATED BATTERY

Two men were in a dispute over splashing rainwater on each other’s luggage at a park in the 2200 block of North Federal Highway. During the scuffle, a pocketknife was produced and both men were cut while fighting over it. Both were treated by paramedics and chose not to pursue charges.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Northeast 14th Avenue. As officers ordered the 46-year-old driver out of the vehicle, he drove off. An officer, whose arm was inside the vehicle through the door, was able to free himself without being injured. Police later found the vehicle abandoned on Ficus Tree Road. The driver was apprehended a short distance from the vehicle. He was arrested and taken to the county jail.

VEHICLE BURGLARY

A woman’s cellphone was stolen from her vehicle while she was in a store at a gas station in the 2300 block of North Federal Highway. The theft was caught on surveillance video.

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle in the 1800 block of Edgewater Drive and stole $30 and some pesos.

A cellphone was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 1900 block of Belmont Place.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY

A man was heading into a store in the 200 block of North Federal Highway when a stranger approached him, asking for a cigarette. The man spurned his request and went into the store. When he came out, the stranger approached him, ripped his cellphone and wallet out of his hand, then fled.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A FIREARM

A woman in the 400 block of Northwest 13th Avenue told police a male acquaintance pointed a gun at her and threatened to shoot her. Witnesses provided police with the full name of the suspect, as the victim knew him only by a nickname. Police put together a photo lineup and returned to show it to the victim, but they were unable to locate her.

VEHICLE BURGLARY

Someone smashed a window on a vehicle in the first block of Banyan Trail and stole a gym bag from the rear seat.

A purse was taken from a vehicle in the 300 block of Manchester Street. The thief smashed a window.

THEFT

License plate thefts were reported in the 6400 block of Park of Commerce Boulevard, 1600 block of Northwest Second Avenue and the first block of Forest Hills Lane.

A 58-year-old man was arrested after he stole a cellphone in the 400 block of Northeast 25th Terrace.

Mangoes were stolen in the 6700 block of North Federal Highway.

Three females stole four backpacks and some jewelry from a business in the 1400 block of West Glades Road.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Police arrested a male after he broke a window of a residence in the 600 block of Ipswich Street.

During a road-rage incident in the 100 block of West Palmetto Park Road, someone broke a mirror on a truck.

DRUGS

A man sleeping in his car at a gas station in the 800 block of Clint Moore Road was arrested after he was found in possession of pot and drug paraphernalia. He was released with a notice to appear in court.

A teen was arrested in the 1400 block of Northeast Fourth Avenue and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and loitering and prowling. He was turned over to the Juvenile Assessment Center, and his parents were notified.

A man found in possession of pot in the 500 block of Northeast Spanish River Boulevard was arrested and released with a notice to appear in court.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

A 75-year-old man was arrested in the 500 block of Northwest 55th Terrace after he threatened another person with a metal pipe.

DELRAY BEACH POLICE

DRUGS

A 29-year-old man was arrested in the 14700 block of South Military Trail after he was found in possession of pot. He also was driving with a suspended license.

A 23-year-old man was arrested after police saw him throw a package of cigarettes on the ground in the first block of Southwest Ninth Avenue. The package contained crack cocaine.

ANIMAL BITE

A juvenile was bitten by a Rottweiler in the 700 block of Barwick Road.

THEFT

A backpack containing pharmaceuticals was stolen in the 700 block of George Bush Boulevard.

Mail was reported stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Auburn Circle East.

An employee of a business in the 100 block of Southeast Second Avenue was observed stealing two envelopes containing tip money from a drawer, then running out a side door.

Someone stole the hood of a vehicle in the 5100 block of West Atlantic Avenue, then replaced it with a different hood.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A woman in the 3400 block of Lakeview Boulevard found a patio screen was cut.

COUNTERFEIT MONEY

Fake money was passed at an eatery in the 500 block of West Linton Boulevard.
