Dispute with woman outside West Palm home preceded fatal shooting

Roxy’s Pub sued for serving, posting lewd video of 19-year-old women

A popular downtown nightspot, that has hosted election night parties for mayors and city council members, is being accused of serving underage girls who got drunk, took their clothes off and, to the delight of hooting patrons, had sex while staff members egged them on.

To further the insult, Roxy’s Pub posted a video of the 19-year-old women’s lewd October 2017 dance on its Facebook page, according to a lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.

While the 10-minute video was removed from the bar’s Facebook page, the damage had already been done, said attorney Jeffrey Luhrsen, who is representing the women in the lawsuit. Not only was it viewed 47,200 times during the week it was on the bar’s Facebook page, but it was picked up by at least two porn sites where it remains available for view.

“Roxy’s behavior went beyond all possible bounds of decency and was utterly intolerable in a civilized community,” Luhrsen says in the lawsuit. “Each of the girls has suffered emotional distress of such intensity or duration that no ordinary person should be expected to endure it.”

Attorney Val Rodriguez, who represents the bar, said it has no comment on the allegations.

Last month, nearly six months after the lawsuit was filed, the pub and its parent company agreed to pay each of the women $1,000 to settle the lawsuit, Luhrsen said. The women rejected the offer and litigation will continue.

He declined to say how much he is seeking on behalf of the women. One was living in Miami at the time of the incident and the other was visiting from Tennessee, according to the lawsuit. The Palm Beach Post is not identifying the women due to the nature of the allegations and their ages.

Shortly after the incident, Roxy’s office manager Scott Smith told The Miami Herald that four bouncers were fired for not quickly putting a stop to the women’s antics. He told the paper that one of the women told bouncers that they were strippers or exotic dancers who were paid $1,000 each to put on the impromptu show.

Luhrsen scoffed at the notion that the women were strippers or were paid. Instead, he said, they were highly intoxicated after Roxy’s served them multiple alcoholic beverages without checking their IDs. Neither looked to be 21 years old and neither had a fake ID, he said.

The video shows six men, wearing Roxy’s shirts, watching the women disrobe as a large crowd cheers them on, he said. Three of the men used their cell phones to shoot video that becomes more and more X-rated, he claims.

In addition to violating the law by serving drinks to underage girls, the bar violated the women’s rights by publishing sexually explicit photos of them without their permission, Luhrsen said.

The incident was apparently well known by Roxy regulars. Days after, when the bar posted its lunch menu on its Facebook page, a man posted a comment asking, “Will the strippers be there?”
