A Riviera Beach man was arrested on charges that he pointed a gun at children, including an infant, during a dispute with his ex-girlfriend.
Javonte Jackson, 27, said he “would have shot all of ya’ll” if not for the chidren present, a probable cause affidavit states. Another witness stated Jackson said, “You better be happy the kids are out here or I’d shoot this (place) up.”
Jackson was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Friday morning, where he remained Saturday afternoon. Court records show his bond was set Saturday at $5,000 on three charges and $1,000 on another charge. The probable cause affidavit lists 11 charges because of the many children involved.
The affidavit said the incident began Dec. 30 along Avenue T in Riviera Beach. Police got a call about an armed person assaulting a woman and found a person shaking and crying in her driveway. She said she was Jackson’s ex-girlfriend; they’d lived together for a year and Jackson called wanting to pick up his stuff. When he came by, she tapped on his trunk so he’d open it, but he got upset, punched her in the face, pushed her to the ground and said he was going to kill her, the affidavit said.
Jackson got a handgun from his car, and a witness said he pointed at his ex-girlfriend, then pointed it at eight other people nearby — an adult and seven children, including a 10-month-old, a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old. Jackson then left and sent a her a text message saying they were all going to die together. The ex-girlfriend was taken to a hospital for treatment.
