NEW: West Palm man tells police he repeatedly raped child over two years

A West Palm Beach man is being held without bail at the Palm Beach County Jail after he allegedly admitted raping a young child, according to an arrest report.

Carlyle Douglas, 31, is facing five counts of sexual battery against a victim under 12 years of age and one count of resisting arrest without violence.

According to West Palm Beach police, when they approached Douglas at his home on the 4300 block of Brewster Lane, off Haverhill Road, he ran from them before being apprehended.

The child’s mother contacted police Monday after the victim told her about the attacks, the report said.

In an interview with police, the unidentified child told of being raped by Carlyle “many times” starting at age 10.

During a controlled telephone call Tuesday with police listening in, the child’s mother asked Douglas if he raped the victim more than once.

“Yes,” Douglas said.

After his arrest, Douglas allegedly admitted to police that he assaulted the child five times between the ages of 11 and 12. Douglas told police the attacks would take place on weekends when the child’s mother was not at home.
