NEW: More than 300 pounds of pot seized from Haverill-area grow house

Over 300 pounds of marijuana was seized from a Haverhill-area grow house Tuesday, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Jacinto Hechavarria, 51, was arrested on charges of trafficking and manufacturing in marijuana and possessing a dwelling to manufacture a controlled substance, according to court records.

Hechavarria told deputies that the house, on Pine Avenue north of Southern Boulevard and west of South Military Trail, was his work, according to the report. He also admitted another grow house along Cheryl Road was his, deputies said.

Different rooms in the house contained a total of 20 marijuana plants, or about 263 pounds, according to the report.

In an unrelated case, sheriff’s deputies on June 29 arrested a Boca Raton man on charges of trafficking marijuana after they found him with about 43 pounds of the drug, according to a report.

Michael Channell, 28, left a Holiday Inn north of Yamato Road and just west of Interstate 95 at about midnight carrying two large bags, according to the report.

Channell and another man, who was not charged, began going back and forth between two car’s trunks in the parking lot, according to the report. Deputies detained Channell and searched the hotel room he and the other man were staying in.

The duffel bags in the car contained about 19 pounds of marijuana and the hotel room had about 23 pounds, according to the report.

A judge set Hechavarria’s bond at $23,000. Channell’s bond was set at $15,000.
