WEST PALM BEACH — A 43-year-old mother seriously injured during a fatal stabbing incident Monday morning at BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens has been released from St. Mary’s Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said Wednesday.

Elaine Simon sustained 10 to 12 stab wounds, including to her face, neck and wrists, her ex-husband said Tuesday.

Jovanni Sierra, a 13-year-old boy spending the night at Simon’s home on Sunset Bay Lane, was stabbed to death.

Dane Bancroft, Simon’s 13-year-old son, was stabbed 32 times and lost a kidney, according to his father.

Corey Johnson, 17, of Jupiter was arrested and is facing one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

There was no answer Wednesday at a house in The Bluffs, a shady neighborhood of well-manicured houses near the beach in Jupiter, that Johnson listed as his address. No one answered the door at a Tequesta-area home linked to his family, either.

Neighbors in The Bluffs said the fact Corey Johnson lived there has shaken up residents.

“The fact is a guy living down the street did this terrible thing. When it hits your area, people are concerned,” said Ricardo Collier, a Bluffs resident.

Collier said he had never met Johnson or anyone who lived in the house where Johnson apparently lived.

The Palm Beach Gardens Youth Athletic Association sent an email to parents reporting the death of Jovanni, who participated in the group’s recreation soccer program on the under-15 boys Team Liverpool squad.

Games scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled as the result of Jovanni’s death, the email said.

GoFundMe account has been set up to cover Jovanni’s funeral expenses.

Facebook fundraiser account has been set up to help Dane’s family pay for his care and that of his mother.
