Palm Beach pastor linked to pedophile priest scandal

NEW: Man arrested for battery of girlfriend, four PBSO deputies

The Palm Beach County sheriff’s office arrested a man on Tuesday after he allegedly beat his girlfriend, assaulted two other women and attacked four deputies.

About 4:30 p.m on Feb. 27, deputies responded to a call about an armed man—later identified as Daniel Cruz, 25, — who allegedly got into a physical fight with his girlfriend at a Home Depot in Royal Palm Beach on State Road 7.

When Cruz saw two women in a car watching the fight, he got a crowbar and smashed the windshield of the car occupied by the two women and their elderly mother, the arrest report states.

Cruz then fled in a black Ford Fusion with his girlfriend traveling eastbound on Southern Boulevard. Deputies spotted Cruz and pulled him over on the Southern Boulevard junction to Interstate 95. As deputies ordered the pair to exit the car, the girlfriend complied but Cruz did not.

Cruz yelled to the deputy, “what you gonna do shoot me?” and then threw his keys and paper documents out of the car, the report states. He eventually got out of the car, but would not listen to the deputy’s commands.

A total of four deputies responded to the scene and, while Cruz was being handcuffed, he kicked all four deputies “multiple times,” spit on one, and kicked the name tag off another, according to the report.

Deputies said Cruz’s girlfriend had “obvious red welts” on her neck, but she would not allow them to take photos of her injuries or complete a statement, the report states.

They arrested Cruz on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery, battery on law enforcement officers and criminal mischief. He was released from the Palm Beach County jail on Saturday morning after posting a $21,000 bond, according to jail records.
