The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is searching for at least one person after nearly $11,000 worth of equipment was stolen from the Martin Downs Golf Club sometime between Sunday and Monday morning.
The Palm City golf course’s maintenance shop was broken into and the equipment, including three chainsaws, two bush trimmers and five edging machines, according to a sheriff’s report.
The club’s equipment manager told deputies a foreman had locked up the shop at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday. When he returned, he found the lock on the back gate had been cut off, the gate was open and a bathroom door was propped open with a concrete bag, according to the report.
The manager also told deputies that locks in two storage areas were cut off and an air-conditioning unit was pulled out of the wall in the men’s bathroom, according to the report.
Deputies who responded to the crime said there was no witnesses, and the golf course doesn’t have security cameras or an alarm.
